The Chambre des Muses

A LITTLE BIT OF FRANCE!
Refinement, comfort, and heritage.

Your Room: 33 sqm, south-facing with a wooden-slatted bathroom and a balcony.

The Chambre des Muses is cheerful and bright with its faux-gold and light anise shades. The walls feature an original decoration painted by Jocco, a painter who reinterprets the spirit of floral fantasy cherished by Art Nouveau creators in a contemporary way. Enjoy the refinement of 1900 with herringbone oak parquet flooring, polished with beeswax, a marble and brass fireplace, and silk curtains.
Villa Bagatelle, listed as a Historic Monument, is one of the very first Hotel-Museums. It has been under restoration for three years to regain its 1900 charm and liveliness. Many elements have been repaired, upcycled, and sometimes rebuilt, staying as close as possible to original materials and techniques.

The bedding:
A majestic double bed, 150 x 200 cm.
It is the new standard of the late 19th century, reinventing the matrimonial bed, where couples sleep together rather than in "3-cuisse" beds (which are 110 to 120 cm wide) where one used to sleep alone, occasionally inviting company.

The furniture and decoration:
Your room is furnished with authentic pieces from the finest workshops of early 20th-century French designers, those who invented Art Nouveau. These pieces alone justify the term Hotel-Museum.

Three breakfast options: "Paulette & Robert", "Family", and "Business Express".

Every morning, a traditional breakfast is served in a ground-floor salon or on the terrace:
an assortment of baguettes, pastries, butter, honey, jams, hot drinks (Italian or French coffee, various teas, Van Houten chocolate), fruit juice, fruits, and cereals.
This breakfast is served with antique tableware, silverware, and linens from the early 20th century.
Extras include eggs, charcuterie, and cheese plates.

Living at Bagatelle

We aim to immerse you in a 1900-1920 universe. As many elements as possible are original, sometimes reconstructed using materials and techniques true to the period: repurposed old parquet, beeswax finishes, linseed oil paint for woodwork, vintage curtains, and museum-quality furniture. The original sanitary fixtures and fittings have been restored. These objects and materials are often no longer part of our daily lives. Coming to Bagatelle for a few nights is about being surprised and ready to relearn the behaviors, gestures, and attentions of our grandparents.

KINDLY PAY ATTENTION

Please be particularly careful about:
DO NOT WET THE ROOM'S WOODEN FLOOR
by walking on it with wet feet after leaving the bathroom.
AVOID WETTING THE HEADBOARD
with damp hair or when wrapped in a towel.
Water removes wax and damages the wood's patina, which will need to be restored.
DO NOT PLACE WET OR COLD GLASSES ON THE TABLES.
